Malik B., founding member of the roots, dead at 47
Malik B., the Philadelphia artist who was a founding member of was the roots has died, said the group. "May he be remembered for his devotion to Islam, his loving brotherhood and his innovation together of the foremost talented MCs of all time," wrote the Roots. No cause of death was disclosed. Malik B. was 47 years old.
Malik B. participated within the first iteration of the Roots and performed with Questlove and Black Thought in Philadelphia and ny City within the late 1980s.
